but I am just trying to catch up so I don't miss anymore days.
We left Memphis about 12:30, made a quick stop and then Ed and I took
over the driving & navigator duties.
About halfway through Arkansas we hit a random snow storm. Nothing to
intense but just enough to make me hate Arkansas & the south in
general even more.
At one point we had a double UPS semi cut us off and almost ran us off
the highway.
There were a good chunk of stops and lots of Ed rambling on and on
about shit that he doesn't even remember.
"Yo Dylan... You and I... We aren't so different."
At one of our many piss/food stops I walked up to a gas station where
some girl was outside smoking & talking on her cell phone (at 5 or 6
in the AM) and when I asked to use the bathroom she told me that so
and so would not let her because she "was not old enough" to let
anyone in the store yet. Seriously??? You were just outside smoking
cigarettes. What a bitch!
So anyway I had to go real bad so I just go behind the van to piss and
just as my luck would have it some random hillbilly in his truck comes
driving right by.
If you didn't already know most of Texas sucks. Everything we drove
by was just BS desert and cattle ranches. There seemed to be some
civilization in Dallas but not to much. We did drive by a Jack In The
Box & Apartment Complex that I stayed at 5 years ago when I went out
with Blood In Blood Out. So that was pretty cool. Other than that
Texas sucks and I hope to never return unless it is Austin. That
place is pretty badass.
After driving the 18 or so hours we finally arrived at this little sub
division where the show was being held. Seemed like a pretty standard
typical suburban part of El Paso. The show was held in the garage of
a house owned by some crust punk kids that smoked a lot of weed.
The show itself was pretty awesome except all of the weed smoke (I had
to miss most of The Red Son because of it) and the crusties in general
needing to bathe / get jobs / stop being douches.
Kids bought some merch and the Red Son was awesome. Oh and Ed punched
me in the face while bringing the mosh.
If you don't listen to the Red Son get on it asap! Super awesome band
and even better people.
After the show we went to Walmart with Jon the dude who set up the
show to stock up on some food. As much as I hate shopping at Walmart
when you are on tour it makes life pretty easy. We then went to Jons
place to make some food and crash.
Words cannot do justice to how awesome / hilarious Jon is. He told us
some crazy stories about Juarez, Mexico. That place is a real 24/7
hell. Bandits shooting La Migra for fun, dudes getting chopped in
half and people dying in general. No thanks!
One of my favorite quotes from him was "the hardcore kids beat me up
because they think I'm gay... I'm not gay though!"
Well like I said I am leaving out and forgetting some details but it
is 3:30 am in Tempe, AZ and I should get some sleep. I will try to
update more about AZ very soon.
Next post... Out adventures with the United States border patrol!
